Hannah Buchsbaum is a Strategic Finance Associate at Uber. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of International Business in May 2021 and a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance in December 2020.

Hannah has worked for three Fortune 200 companies in Finance-related roles where she has gained extensive knowledge in financial reporting and analysis.

Outside of work, Hannah is passionate about mentorship, relationship building and also freelances as a photographer. In the coming years, she hopes to travel more internationally and explore new places and cultures.

UBER

My Uber journey started in July 2021 as a part of the Strategic Finance Development Program (SFDP). Uber’s SFDP is a two-year rotational program providing a breadth of core financial and analytical skills through four unique roles within the Strategic Finance organization.

  • Platform Engineering Finance (February 2023 - August 2023)

  • External Reporting (August 2022 - February 2023)

  • Payments, Risk & Identity (February 2022 - August 2022)

  • Global Delivery FP&A (July 2021 - February 2022)

  • I am currently a Strategic Finance Associate on the Platform Engineering Finance team. I support the Stateful/Stateless Platforms, Observability, and Reliability teams.

    AMAZON

    During the summer of 2020, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with Amazon as a Financial Analyst intern, working on the Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) Worldwide Financial Planning & Analysis team. Throughout my internship, I was able to:

  • Perform financial analysis on over $4B of annual capital expenditure spend, utilizing IBM COGNOS Analytics, to define key performance metrics for Amazon Transportation Services teams and establish a relevant source of truth for month-end close

  • Create a Standard Operating Procedure to institute a formalized reporting process for 9 business teams to report capital expenditure variances and commentary for the monthly financial review that is distributed to VPs and senior leaders

  • Create an onboarding webpage for the Amazon Transportation Services team highlighting weekly benchmarks, key links, and useful tips as a new-hire

  • Attend various trainings to further my understanding of the Operations Finance business unit responsibilities and its organizational structure

  • UNITED TECHNOLOGIES

    I worked for United Technologies, Climate Controls & Security, at their World Headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, FL during the summer of 2018. Some highlights of my internship are:

  • Achieved a 100% submission rate for the 2017 BE-11 Survey for the Bureau of Economic Activity through creating an entity control list, distributing appropriate spreadsheets to business unites, and submitting responses to comply with US governmental reporting standards

  • Performed Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls testing, through reviewing test procedures, running tests, and providing appropriate electronic support, which resulted in confirmation of business operations running legally and ethically

  • Completed other numerous ad-hoc tasks for the Financial Reporting and Consolidations team utilizing technology such as Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and Microsoft Excel

  • NEXTERA ENERGY

    During the summer before my senior year of high school, I had the unique opportunity to intern for NextEra Energy, a leading energy company with revenues totaling over $17B. Working for the Cash Management team I was able to:

  • Create a virtual filing system of bank statement data spanning over 24 months in order to increase the efficiency in which analysts were able to collect and identify key information for quarterly reviews

  • Participate in an active role during a project financing in order to acquire funds to endow a new company venture

  • Utilize Bloomberg database to research current market data for analysts to interpret and include in proposal pitches to finance managers and executives

  • UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA

    At the University of Florida, I have strived to be involved with diverse groups and organizations. I was selected to serve as a Career & Academic Peer Mentor (or CAP for short!) for the Warrington College of Business. As a CAP I have been able to:

  • Create descriptive LinkedIn step-by-step guides to aid students in creating and sustaining their own LinkedIn profiles

  • Provide peer-to-peer mentorship to over 50 undergraduate business students through resume/cover letter reviews, mock interviews, elevator pitch creation, and job/internship strategy

  • PGA NATIONAL
    RESORT & SPA

    I was fortunate enough to work at the PGA National Resort & Spa for three summers: 2014, 2015, and 2017. During my time with PGA, I held a number of roles such as Summer Camp Counselor, Summer Camp Coordinator, and Activities Coordinator:

  • I started working as a summer camp counselor in 2014, and the following year, I was promoted to running the camp for the duration of the summer

  • As Camp Coordinator, I set weekly schedules, planned logistics for food and activities, and was responsible for the safety and well-being of the 25 campers each week

  • During the summer of 2017, I served as Activities Coordinator for the resort where I planned, coordinated, and executed a weekly activity schedule for guests staying at the resort and members of the club, including both inside and poolside events

  • USSF

    Soccer has been one of my passions since middle school. I have been a player, coach, and have worked as an official United States Soccer Federation Referee since 2016. As an official USSF referee I have:

  • Officiated 20+ travel league tournaments in the state of Florida comprised of hundreds of teams competing from across the country with players aging from 8-21

  • Referee a local recreational league, the Palm Beach Gardens Predators, during their regular season and post-season play

  • Pass recertification tests each year from 2017-2020

  • I even got to referee the children of some celebrities like Tiger Woods!
